Asbestos specialists AANZ are the latest Christchurch-based asbestos consultancy to join the Australia and New Zealand Alpha Tracker family!

On the way over to meet John and his asbestos surveying, asbestos removal, demolition and salvage colleagues today the taxi driver took me on a small diversion to look at new housing estates devastated by the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.

Whole streets of new houses have either been demolished or have been declared as unfit for habitation as they are now structurally unsound.  Quite an eye-opener:

inspection notices were on all properties showing they were not fit to inhabit
the worst properties had been completely demolished
most properties had windows broken in the quake
subsidence crack - some properties had drops of 1m or more

Thursday 24 December: Office closes at 4pm Friday 25 December: Closed Monday 28 December: Closed Tuesday 29 December: Open with reduced staffing levels Wednesday 30 December: Open with reduced staffing levels Thursday 31 December: Open with reduced staffing levels Friday 1 January: Closed As usual, we are not sending Christmas cards to clients but instead we are donating to our favourite charity, the RNLI . We wish all of our customers a Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
