No summer holiday for the Support Desk! 908 tickets solved in August 2024

We've taken on several new clients over the summer and that's had quite an impact on our Support Desk.

New clients lead to more calls as new users need help and support.  That's what we're here for - we're here to help - but it puts quite a workload on our team.  They have all worked hard to deliver our award-winning level of service and solving 908 tickets in a month is a new record.

No summer break for our Support Team

91% of all tickets were responded to within our SLA timescales, and 94% of high-priority problems were solved within 2 hours - quite an achievement!

Our Support Desk received 873 requests for assistance in July 2024, a really busy month.  This reflects the number of new clients using our various software platforms including Alpha Tracker, Alpha Legal/Legacy Portal and ecoScribe.

Our beta-testing customers are giving us good feedback about Alpha Tracker Release 41, so we're confident that we'll be able to release it publicly in July.

July 31 is the big day for Alpha Tracker Release 41!

Here are some of the biggest changes you'll see:

• you can now set Alpha Tracker to email asbestos reports automatically when they are approved saving you a huge amount of admin time
  
  
• the Wallboard has been improved, both cosmetically and with new features
  
  
• there are new management screens for asbestos jobs (similar to the water appointments screen) and for Master Projects
  
  
• our new Lab Sample Exchange might be ready (it's going to be close!) - this will enable Alpha Tracker labs to exchange sample data electronically helping our clients' labs to grow their businesses and work more efficiently
  
  
• some AI features will be live including the ability to summarise asbestos registers at a site or in a project
  
  
• you can now chase batches of open quotes by email without having to write the emails yourself! Again, this is another huge time saver.

Excitingly, there is a large technical update behind Release 41 too, with an entirely new software framework in place that promises big improvements in performance going forward into the rest of 2024 and 2025.

Support Desk performance in June 2024

Our Support Desk recorded 732 tickets in June 2024.  This was slightly up compared to May (700), but lower than April (830).

89% of all calls were resolved within the timeframe requested.  Looking at High Priority tickets specifically, 95% of calls were resolved on schedule.

Remember, our Support Desk is available 24x7 to support you - so get in touch whenever you need our help.  That's what we're here for!

Quotation "auto-chase" feature coming soon. Big time-saver for your sales teams

We're putting the finishing touches onto our new quotation "auto-chase" feature in Alpha Tracker.  This will be a huge time-saver for sales teams wanting to follow up on open quotes without manually writing individual emails to each prospect.

You filter the list of open quotes to select the ones you want to follow up.  Once you have the list ready, you can select all or a selection and press the new "Chase" button.  This will give you a customisable email template before you click to send.  Each quotation will then be followed up with the emails copied into your Tracker Filer address.

Our beta-tester consultancies will be the first to see the feature and give us feedback. If you'd like a sneak preview, too, get in touch.

We use Alpha Tracker to run our own business.  Does that seem odd, considering most Alpha Tracker users are asbestos consultancies or water hygiene specialists and we are a software business?

You might be wondering why a software company like ours uses Alpha Tracker, a tool typically designed for asbestos consultancies, water hygiene specialists, and environmental consultants. The answer is simple: we believe in practising what we preach. By using Alpha Tracker ourselves, we're constantly on the lookout for new features and performance improvements. If something in Alpha Tracker bothers us, it's likely to bother you too, and this motivates us to fix it quickly!

Whenever a client requests a new feature or asks us to modify their asbestos report templates, for instance, we log that task as a project in our own instance of Alpha Tracker.  This method not only helps us track our work but also ensures that we experience the software just like our clients do.

701 calls taken in May by our Support Team. Steady month

Our fabulous support team took 701 calls from clients in May 2024.

We've been analysing the reasons why people have needed to speak to us.  The most common are:

• "data queries" - questions about information within a system and how to process it (18%)
• "change requests" - callers asking for new software features or changes to existing ones (6%)
• "technical/server support" - clients calling us because they don't have their own IT support (5%). 

Most calls turn into "tickets", our means to track issues.  Overall, we solved 94% of high-priority tickets within 2 hours - a good result.

We blog every month to show the performance of our support desk because we want to be completely transparent and open with our clients and prospective customers.  Hope this information is useful!

Remember the incredible Andrew Bedwell and his World Record "Big C Challenge" attempt at crossing the Atlantic in the shortest boat ever?  Start Software/Alpha Tracker were key sponsors and we also built an app for Andrew to use on the crossing.

Andrew is working towards another crossing attempt in 2025 and just dropped in to see us and let us know how his plans are progressing.  With a new all-aluminium boat design (which is 6cm longer internally - positively spacious!) and even better preparation, we're sure attempt #2 will be successful.

We're not the only ones having a problem, EA Sports are also unable to receive calls, apparently, as are many national and international businesses.
